Hey friends! It's xjordanary here with some free fresh new jams for your eager ears! I feel it's high time to quit being such a perfectionist hoarder of the music I create, and give as much back to all my beautiful friends and family as I can. This is the culmination of the last few creative months in one 34 minute mix of all original tunes composed by yours truly.
I hope you all enjoy, and have a hot n sunny fun summer!

NEW UK Garage/Grime Party in SF this Saturday!

Hey all~

This is my first of hopefully many great nights to come at my new venue, The Cellar. We just renovated the house room and it is absolutely gorgeous, so what better way to kick it off than with a HUGE party! The promo stuff being done for this night has been huge, and we are expecting a great turnout of SF residents in the know. Email me at rsvp@cellarsf.com to be put on the guestlist!! Here's the SFStation writeup:

Come to the first installment of Housecleaning, the city's only danceclub event that truly offers something for everyone. This kickoff event will feature an interesting fusion of funky and progressive house Voda DJs Vedda and Martin Aquino (in the newly renovated side room), and SF Bay Area's top hip hop/grime DJs, the B.I.G. crew, in the main room. Grab those trendy friends, AND the ones who just like to shake their booty, and head down to The Cellar for one insane night of DJs and dancing!

10pm - 2am
$10 cover, or email me to get put on a guestlist for free entry before 1am
21+

The Cellar
685 Sutter St. (@ Taylor)
SF, CA 94102

Thanks for reading!

Friday July 7th @ 9pm

BOCA (Bar of Contemporary Art)
414 Jessie Street
San Francisco, CA

DISCOUNT PRESALES NOW AVAILABLE ON www.snagtickets.com

Soul Stream and Still Doin’ It, two of San Francisco’s most dedicated drum & bass collectives, have teamed up again for another evening of smooth liquid drum & bass. Hailing from London, UK, Artificial Intelligence, the hottest production/DJ duo in the scene, make their Bay Area debut on Friday, July 7th at BOCA (The Bar of Contemporary Art).

Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is the collective mind of drum & bass producers/DJs, Glenn Herweijer and Zula Warner. With ten years of experience under their belt, they’ve built an arsenal of quality releases spanning well-respected labels including V Recordings, Commercial Suicide, Soul:R, and their own Widescreen imprint. They’ve recently become the ones to watch in the scene due to the success of their uplifting anthems “Desperado” and “Uprising.” Now their name has become synonymous with cutting edge future funk d&b. Soul Stream and Still Doin’ It are excited to present Artificial Intelligence for a special night of soulful cinematic drum & bass, in celebration of their recently released mix CD, “Liquid V Club Sessions Vol.2: the Big Picture.”

Getting BOCA boiling is the local talents of Soul Stream (DJ’s Ric, Cyan, & Dashe), Kuze (Still Doin’ It, Sound:Trax, Nitewise), and Retox (Still Doin’ It, Bassism, Turntablaze). To get the crowd live is your host The Colonel MC (Compression, Still Doin’ It).

BOCA (The Bar of Contemporary Art) is the latest Blasthaus venue extravaganza and recently voted “Best New Club In San Francisco” by the SF Weekly! Located on an alley across from the historic Mint Building, BOCA is a spacious gallery and music venue with a full bar, cafe, and outdoor seating. Open for lunch and light-dinner during the week and special events at night, BOCA will also feature rotating contemporary art exhibitions curated by Blasthaus including a video art program and a special project room.

:: Silent :: 5/20 (EVERY 3rd Saturday) - Ruff & Tumble

Time has come for the next installment of Silent. This month has a (ever so) slightly harder edge to it as some rough bay area DJs will be in attendance to show their stuff, accompanied, of course, by Silent residents. BEHOLD!!!:

-The Doctor (BR/Rhythm Method/Hard Heads)

-DJ Sik (Metallic Blurp Radio/Santa Cruz DNB)

-JSuave (Silent Founders Association)

-Munk (Silent/Reflex/Press Record) vs. Kinetik (Silent/Phuturo/Reflex)

-The Colonel MC (Silent/Compression/Gods of Thunder)

If you can hang with the heavy beats, be sure to comprehend the following:

Silent every 3rd Saturday @ Il Pirata
2007 16th St. @ Utah
San Francisco, CA
(415) 626-2626
9pm-2am, 21+
$5, Free before 10:00

Silent - Saturday, April 15th, 2006

Hey all. This'll be round three for Silent in '06 and there's no stall in momentum thus far. This month'll be featuring some folks who really know how bring it, throw down, mash up as well as any other euphemisms you can think of for playing drum and bass particularly well. They are, in a slightly particular order:

Bscrivin' - (Elev8)

Diatrybe - (Rythem Method, Company Truck, Streetmode.net)

Dreadnaught - (B.A.S.S. Dynamix)

Axiom - (Silent, Clandestine)

Kinetik - (Silent, Phuturo, Reflex)

Come early (8:00) for some amazing Italian food, stay for drinks, beats, banter and mayhem.

GENERAL MALICE @ Reflex 4/8

SATURDAY, APRIL 8TH

REFLEX PROUDLY PRESENTS...

GENERAL MALICE (N20, BIG CAT)

Fresh off his 30th vinyl release, General Malice continues to pave the way for the Hardstep - Bboy jungle sound. Bringing to the table a combination of raw Hip Hop & Dancehall flavors mixed with hard crashing drums banged out on an MPC. Darkside drum and bass mixed with the soul & vibe of the oldskool. For years winning over crowds from LA to Tokyo and everywhere in between with his unique blend of mash-up showmanship and party bangers.

If you have never heard of General Malice, then get ready to feel music warfare and be part of the next sound to burst out of the underground. Clint Harley Ward, A.K.A. General Malice has had a dream of innovating the mixture of breakbeats, hip hop and a little bit of drum and bass to a point that no one has touched before. As a significant figure on the notorious Big Cat Records in Japan and a rising star on Nitrous Oxide Entertainment in the United States, Malice has always stayed true to his experimental sound, mashing up hip-hop, amen-ridden jungle, reggae and metal within a single track while turning bass-craving junglists into "rabid monsters of the pit."

His latest album, "Final Takeover," is based around a style dubbed "extreme reggae, dancehall, IDM-style mash-up" and features twelve original tracks, each with a different sound than the one previous to it. This album will be available on March 14, 2006 as a CD and Three-piece vinyl set and will be available at all major retailers including Best Buy, Virgin, HMV and Tower.

CENOBITES (BEATDOWN, FLATLINE, AUDIO FOULPLAY)

FRANKIE (Cyph3r Collective, Reflex)

Cylob- http://www.cylob.com/home.html
From his bio- Although focusing more recently on a refined brand of ambient breakbeat and techno, Cylob's stylistic palette includes crunchy, industrial-leaning techno, beatless ambient, and new-school electro-funk.
Stylus Magazine dubbed his music as "you need to be triple-jointed to dance to.....provokes the looniest moves".

666 Gangstas www.5lowershop.org
5lowershop is the only truly DIY electronic music collective in San Francisco. Most people are scared of them. 666 Gangstaz is not scary, but his music can make you feel like you are full of shit and you need to change your ways.

DJ McKell Smith

Catharsis- www.egregious.net www.egrsoftware.com/
Catharsis has spun genres ranging from no wave, classic EBM, to electro-industrial with current leanings toward all edgy EDM genres; most notably acid/ hard techno, electrotech, industrial-techno, & powernoise.
Recently, he has turned his focus to producing various genres of dark EDM and spending a lot of time in studio.
Tonight he battles DTC's own pHreaki bOi!

Raydeus- Raydeus is co-founder of the Pronoia DJ crew and semi-monthly BassWorship parties in SF. Utilizing his lifelong passion for subversive yet danceable music, he catalyzes a sinister, twisted, nasty, wicked, and seriously funky bass odyssey behind the decks.

Smoove- http://www.djsmoove.net/
Smoove specializes in funky and chunky breakz, ultra disco house, retro 80's new wave, stoney trip hop, dark and evil jungle and will be spinning his deepest and darkest jungle and other goodies for us! Why does he spin? Because for just one night, he wants you to forget whatever your tweak is and just take pleasure in the rhythmic movement of your body.

j_moody (Meiotic - Chicago/SF)
A transplant from Chicago and member of the Meiotic collective,
j_moody's sound walks the line of minimal techno and house and can be
described as deep, dark and dirty. His experience includes
performances alongside such luminaries as Michael Mayer, Thomas
Fehlmann, and Herbert.

BBOY 3000 has conceived a new mix CD with a title only the most confident performer would dare, Fuck Your Style, the newest release from one of the forefathers of hardcore jungle. In a field dominated by UK artists, R.A.W. has chosen to showcase 14 hard and rough drum and bass tracks from North America's fastest rising producers. This CD will indubitably define the American drum and bass sound.

DJ R.A.W. has been a legend in the Los Angeles dance music scene for the last 15 years. Originally a hip-hop DJ and producer, his career has spanned the current history of dance music from electro, to hip hop, to techno. He now focuses his musical expression on the futuristic sounds of drum and bass. His particular style of rough and rugged breakbeats has been hitting dance floors across the globe. With an impressive discography featuring 28 vinyl releases, and 8 CD releases on labels such as Warner Bros, Priority, his own Void Audio imprint, not to mention the tens of thousands of mix tapes sold in his DJ career, RAW brings his upfront style and major talent to the Fuck Your Style CD.

R.A.W. utilizes seamless mixing and infamous turntable skills, presenting a CD that makes you want to hit the dance floor. Featuring such artists as General Malice, BBOY 3000, Oscar da Grouch, and DJ K, this non stop dance blend rages from hard melodic anthems to the roughest, driving breakbeats made for the bass bins. R.A.W. showcases his incomparable talent with this dark and dirty dubplate session.

This month Silent will be featuring our first open decks night in quite a while, so roll through if you want to show your stuff. Don't fell like you get to play out enough? Want people to hear your sound without doing the 'awkward introduction' schuffle? Or do you just want to hear your home made tracks on a larger sound system? Whatever the case, come on down. Enthrall your friends, abash your enemies, hug your mom, make those impartial partial! There will be a sign up sheet so it'll be first come first served. You can sign up as much as you like, just not twice in row and everyone will play in the order that they signed up. The "slots" will be either 10 mins or five tracks, which ever comes first. If there's any confusion, come on by and all will be made clear. The nature of the entertainment also means that this will be a FREE party (except for the folks who think they're at Mighty).
Unsure where to go? See below.

11/19/05 - Silent @ Il Pirata (every 3rd Saturday)
2007 16th St. @ Potrero, San Francisco
9pm-2am

THURSDAY - ltj BUKEM + mc CONRAD @ Ruby Skye

"It's all a matter of opinion." Indeed it is, when it comes to the soundscaped atmospheres of Danny Williamson, better known as LTJ Bukem. Founder and pioneer DJ/Producer, LTJ has spent the better part of two decades crafting a signature style for success under the moniker of his Good Looking Records label as well as his original Bar Rumba "Progression Sessions" in the UK. Joining LTJ will of course be MC Conrad, who brought a new vocal dimension to the Good Looking sound since the Western single of 1993, and helped expand the mic and minds of drum and bass MC's. On local support, we got Kuze, Stunna, Sinukus, M, Colonel MC and Jax, so make moves to Ruby Skye, and progress yourself..logically. (AC)

SATURDAY - SoulStream 3 hour set @ Anu

This Saturday (9/3), Still Doin' It brings you a very special 3 hour set by SoulStream at Anu Bar (43 6th Street). Cyan, Ric, and Dashe have been gracing the decks of many a club in San Francisco over the years, and their unique DJ sets run the gamut of the drum n bass sound - smooth, tech, and dark. It's really entertaining watching these cats drop records back-to-back.

Resident support from Kuze, DJ M, and MC Child on the mike.

Since last year's San Francisco Love Parade, the local drum 'n' bass scene has garnered serious international attention and a renaissance of sorts, with the feeling that the best is yet to come. This Friday, sees the Bay Area's best talent come together for an extravaganza of devastating beats. Witness a never-dreamed of lineup featuring an astonishing collection of 25 DJ's performing in two rooms. No stone will be left unturned as both old and new skool are represented by all the crews, alongside a plethora of MC's. What for? Because they want to make history - AGAIN - at this year's Love Parade. (JMC)

DJ Clever (NYC) @ Anu, FREE! Saturday, June 4th

Saturday, June 4th - we're flying in one of the USA's most talented drum n bass DJ's. Clever runs Offshore Recordings and Breakbeat Science over in NYC, both on the cutting edge of the sound. Best get to Anu for a tasty DJ set.

Clever will also be at the Virgin Megastore (Stockton + Market) btw 7pm and 9pm, just before our show. You can purchase his new mix CD "Breakbeat Science Excercise 5" for only $8! Simon Reynolds called it "The best drum n bass mix CD I've heard in 7 years."

www.djclever.com for all the juice!

"New York's DJ Clever is, in fact, a pretty clever guy, savvy enough to take drum 'n bass — a form that's been widely considered moribund to all but diehard listeners — from its nadir, artfully tweak the form, and make folks outside the hoodie-and-cargos scene sit up and take notice. Where most folks just see rough, he spots diamonds: in his recordings and mix CDs — particularly last year's breathtaking Offshore Presents: Troubled Waters — for labels like Offshore, Microcosm Music, and Moonshine, Clever re-introduces you to the unpredictable rhythmic potential of drum 'n bass all over again. Go, play like a fox and see what this craftiest of DJs has in store." (PS)

Here's a mini-mix Clever whipped up for the occasion for everyone to check out some forthcoming Offshore bits:

Link- http://www.offshore-recordings.com/audio/May05SmplrMix.mp3

Tracklist
1. Intex Systems "Fresh"
2. Deep Blue "Do You Voodoo? (Ror-shak Rmx)"
3. Sileni "Twitchy Droid Leg (Graphic Rmx)"
4. Endemic Void "Off the Market"
5. Intex Systems "Drum Track 3"
6. Tundra "Sprouts (Omni Trio Rmx)"

Drum n' Bass soundtrack for my student film?

I'm making a short film (it's supposed to be 60 seconds, but I think it will end up being longer) for my final project in my production class. I want to use some good DnB for it.

The film is sort of a paranoid fantasy (related to living in a surveillance state), so I wanted something dark and full of tension. Does anyone have any suggestions for something like that? As I posted before, you all know that I'm new to Drum n Bass, so I'm still just getting familiar with it.
The UK acid house movement in 1987 was the catalyst for the dance music revolution that was ahead! Skynet, aka Nathan Vinall, found himself sucked into the thick of it. Skynet recalls how early acid house changed his life forever, “I was totally transformed over night. I remember going to the local clubs like Savannah and Zap and was like, what the hell is this? A few weeks later I found myself going out Thursday, Friday, and the whole weekend. At the age of 17 I was ready to blast, so I did and never looked back! ”

Sixteen years later Skynet is more deeply rooted in electronic dance music than ever he could have imagined.

After a couple years spent listening, Skynet felt growing desire to DJ and produce. In the clubs he found himself gravitating to the more straightforward techno sounds familiarized by the works of Lenny Dee and Loftgroover. With his love of the music and his appreciation of its intricacies, Skynet felt that it was time to create his own sound and put it out there for others to enjoy. With that, Skynet purchased some studio equipment, despite knowing nothing about music apart from what he loved and turned him on. Whilst discovering and learning about the production of music he was exposed to a new sound that was evolving in the electronic music scene; it was called “Jungle ”. It wasn ’t long before Skynet ’s talents in the studio began to unfold parallel to the increasing sophistication of the Jungle sound he loved so much.

After spending some time meeting new producers in his hometown of Brighton, England, Skynet was introduced to Shaun Morris, aka Stakka. Shaun had been producing for a few years and had already released a few records. Shortly after their introduction, the duo ’s partnership began to take shape. “We started working together more and more. We found ourselves at a point were we had a couple of tracks that were really different from anything on any other labels, so we decided to start our own imprints, Audio Blueprint and Underfire. ”After years of hard work the duo ’s releases began receiving recognition from many of the major players in the scene, including Fabio, Grooverider, Andy C, Randall, Ray Keith. But it was Skynet & Stakka ’s “Voyager ”LP (Audio Blueprint) that really stamped their mark on the Drum and Bass map. The LP received rave reviews and is still regarded by many as a breakthrough for the drum and bass sound. The due soon followed up with “Blazin ”, an LP released on their sister label Underfire. With its next level production and innovative sound, “Blazin ”set a new musical standard in the scene. The milestone LP contained the tune “Side Effects ”which instantly turned into an anthem familiar to drum and bass enthusiasts around the globe. In fact, it was that song Grooverider called, “One of the biggest tunes of Glastonbury ”during a broadcast on BBC ’s Radio One.

Not contented with two killer LPs, the duo went on to produce one final LP together, entitled “Clockwork ”. The “Clockwork ”LP, loaded with dance floor anthems, became an all time drum and bass classic. The album gained the duo worldwide recognition and respect while continuing to solidify Skynet ’s stronghold as one of the hottest and most innovative producers in the drum and bass music scene.

Despite its success, “Clockwork ”marked the end of the Stakka / Skynet partnership. “We had moved to Seattle for a year after the ‘Clockwork ’LP and during that time we discovered that we were on different pages. ”Five years in the studio together can take its toll on the best of friend/partnerships. Skynet recalls, “It was like a marriage without the love. I felt restricted and needed to move on. ”

In the years that Stakka and Skynet worked together they released a total of 40 twelve inch singles, three albums and five compilation CD's.

After returning to the UK, Skynet spent much of his time touring in order to showcase his sounds and skills as a solo artist. Alone for the first time Skynet hit Australia, Europe, and the US. He also spent a lot of time in the studio, creating an arsenal of new work and making plans for a new way to expose the public to his paramount sound. Alone in the studio, Skynet began to feel more inspired by the work he was writing. “It was just me now. I loved the freedom and it showed in the music I was creating. ”

Back in the studio having crafted a nice cache of music Nathan decided to kick-start his own imprints: Skynet Recordings, Discrete, and Nvision. Skynet Recordings was the first followed closely by Discrete Recordings. “These were both labels for me really. I needed them both because of the sheer volume of tracks I was producing. The music I have been making seems to take on two different vibes. ”Skynet Recordings is set for the heavy more dance floor material whilst Discrete Recordings was created to birth the deeper more soulful sounds. After many months of hard work, Skynet ’s hard-line solo career began to raise eyebrows in the global drum & bass community. The releases on the new labels have led to continued requests for tour dates all over Europe, America, South Africa and Australia and high demands for original and remix work.

Recognizing the need of an outlet for other artists ’music, Skynet established Nvision. “A bombardment of demos from around the world kept coming in. ”Skynet heard a good few tunes and he noticed serious potential in these artists, with that Nvision was born!

Skynet ’s career and desire to push the music can never be called stagnant. It only took two years back in the UK establishing the labels for Skynet to realize he missed the States and had the urge to return. He packed his bags and said goodbye to the UK once more, this time settling in Philadelphia. Skynet is already taking the US by storm with an agenda that keeps him extremely busy. His own club night in Philly is in the cards for this year. Alongside a stream of DJ and remix work he has started producing original tracks for stateside record labels. Skynet has even found himself now branching out into the different sounds of Breaks, House and Hip Hop.

The future is bright for the man from Brighton and the global electronic music scene is better off because of his contributions.

New to DnB - any suggestion?

I got bored with music in general, and have never been particularly fond of electronic or dance music in particular. Until I clicked on a random Drum n Bass station on iTunes, that is.

Man it's so good - I heard someone once call DnB "techno if Max Roach invented it". I can see myself getting really into it.

Now I'm a little tired of the iTunes stations. Do you have any recommendations for CDs I should buy (or download)? Since I'm new, I'd like to first buy a compilation until I figure out which artists I like.

I'm looking for a place to shake my ass to some big beats and bass. Also looking to play out somewhere, ANYWHERE! Can bring fire dancers! I just want to have a good time with the music and people I love. BIG UP SF MASSIVE-m1

Metalic Blurp Strictly drum-n-bass needs your help.

Message Help out some good people asap!

Metalic Blurp Strictly drum-n-bass needs your help.
This program has been on the air Sundays 8:30-10:30 PM
at KZSC for the past ten years, and is now being
threatened with cancellation.

A guest dj played a track that had questionable
language in it without the host being aware of it at
the time. The KZSC program director heard it and is
now going to remove this show from the schedule
permanently because of this one little mistake. This is after
ten years of bringing Santa Cruz County the best
hardcore electronic show ever. If you want
Drum-n-Bass, Old School Hardcore, and Jungle to
continue on the radio here please contact these people
immediately to show your support for the Metalic
Blurp. Request intelligently that it should not be removed from the schedule for this one time offense:

KZSC Program Review Commitee - Phone: (831) 459-4726 -
Email: kzsc_prc@hotmail.com

p.s. Jesus F. Christ, like anyone who listens to this
fucking music would be offended by shitty language
anyways.... ;)
